Well...we got a camera for Christmas, so we will blog again! I'll post lots of fun new pictures, which is what you really want to see, when we get back to Florence. Dan has been in Raliegh for 5 days and I've been chillin in Winston-Salem.... a fun perk of our job really is the college schedule, especially for me who had bronchitis and got to be here at my house with my nurse mom and nurse sister taking care of me. Hopefully this semester will be a good one!!!

Hello everyone who has not heard from us since june! We have bought a house, we traveled the enitre southeast united states, we've moved completely, we've helped move in six new friends to help us on campus, and students have started moving in! Please pray for us and them, this is a very important time... And so the school year begins...I might be getting a new digital camera for my birthday, so maybe we'll have some pics then. Hope things are well with you, or at least you have a peace and understand this hard time will bring you closer to Him. Much love!

So, we just got back last night from Orlando, it was a VERY good time overall. Project was good, there are a lot of students there that want to know Christ more and its pretty exciting to see. They're lots of fun too... Next on our nomad adventures (yes, we live in various places and we like it for the most part) Greenville, SC for three days to see our friends Seth and Dawn united for life. Then, we come back to Flo-town to finish packing (we made a DENT today :o) and buy and move into out new house next Wednesday, so you can pray that goes well. My parents and our PUPPY (haven't seen our sweet girl in 6 weeks) are coming to help. After that, we're off to Mobile, AL to let Daniel's adventerous and generous mom take us on a 5-night cruise to Mexico!!! How fun, right?!?! Next, we'll hit up B-ham and Atlanta, so hit us up if that is near your neck of the woods :o) Of course, then back to Orlando to finish things out, and then back to Florence to actual UNpack our house and greet the new students. What a life, huh? Hope you're each doing well and hearing from God if you're reading this and we love and miss most of you :o)

DISNEY LIFE

Well...it's 96 degrees today, yeah...HOT! It has been really great down at project so far. The students have better schedules and they're really great kids (ps-I still consider myself a kid, so don't get offended if you're in college). Not too much info to report, we're here, then gone to Florence to pack our whole condo, dan's in a wedding, we move and unpack, and then Daniel's mom is VERY generously taking us on a cruise to Mexico for 5 days. After that we raise support, so be praying for that for us if you like to pray for others :o) We'll post pictures of our new house when we move in!!!

So yeah, we've been praying for a house on this one street for six months and we just bought one (well, the loan was apporved)!!!!!! We close on July 5th, so we get to go do all the very important sutff we need to do in Florida and such and then come back and move ina few days before we have to run to Alabama. I have a feeling this summer is gonig to be extra crazy, butI haven't had a fast time like that in a while so I'm kinda excited about it :o) This house will be LESS per month than our two-bedroom apartment in Charleston (sorry chucktown peeps) and will be two minutes from campus. I really feel like this house will affect our outlook, our ministry, our money, and our time, so this is a SUPER great way God provided for us, how nice. Hey, you can come stay at our house if you're reading this...much love to you

As I was telling Mamie this weekend...I want to post PICTURES, those are what people want to see and not JUST me blabbing on. Well, not having any new pictures has prevented my posts, but now it will not stop us. My friend amy got engaged to our friend kaz, my friend meghan got married, my friend jen is about to have a baby, one of my friends is leaving, my friend abby and her husband daniel are back in the country, my friends bek and clay are moving to LA and traveling by car across the country, the Leary's are having a fourth child, all this exciting stuff going on. PLUS, we've had Ashley Whiteside living with us for three weeks...It has been really good because we're going to all work together next year, so we're REALLY getting to know each other and have some community up in this peice. We're getting more excited for this summer in Orlando and I know may will fly by and we'll be there soon. We get to go to Chicago in May to see my 15 cousins, yeah! Daniel is hiking Linville Gorge this weekend and I might go to the beach....all this to say...
Ashley and I talked about how non-eventful our lives would be if we didn't have friends with all this stuff going on. SO THANKS TO YOU FRIENDS and keep doing exciting stuff.

Well, it isn't really Spring all that much, but we're headed down to Mississippi to build some houses and help clean up this mess down there. Some students are going, along with people from our church in Florence, so please pray this would be a GOOD time for us and the people who we meet. Well, Spence left today. For those of you who don't know this info or know us, Spence worked here at FMU with us and he worked here for five years.
Although I've only been here a year, and only really been friends with Spence a year, I was so sad to see him go. I cried.
I haven't cried like that for a long time. Friends leaving and moving on is a great thing, but in the moment, it hurts. Today I hurt.
I will miss Spence a lot. We will miss him. He is a great friend.

Well, the past few blog posts have been about harder things in our lives... I guess this past semester was pretty hard for us, and I think it left us both knida sad without a lot of resolution (especially me more than dan). The Atlanta Christmas conference was a nice, clear, firm yet gentle call for me to come back to the Lord. It really does feel like a new year to the Simmons family here, and there is new hope in the air. During one of the awesome talks at the Conference a guy talked about Psalm 1, describing what it takes to be like the tree that is firmly planted by streams of water. The tree bears fruit in season ( NOT all the time!!! How freeing!), but is always nourished because of where it is planted. Lord, can I please be that tree this year? That is our prayer and hope. There are hopes and dreams to be had for you too, reader of this :o) Rock on in 06!

Today Daniel and two ATO freshman saw one of their best friends, Ry, get into a car accident. They pulled him out of the car and called 911, but his truck had flipped and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt. We spent this afternoon in the hospital, but they could not keep him stable, and he had a lot of head injury. Ry died today. Please pray for his family and the guys he hung out with all the time. This is a big deal to them, and this is obviously a time of spiritual questioning. Also, the girls I hang out with knew him well and are very sad, please pray for my time with them. Thanks

I just think in general it has been a discouraging time for both of us the past week or so... It's really hard to love and spend a lot of time and energy into relationships when they can reject you and reject spiritual things. Yesterday, we had a breakthrough with Daniel saying that is when we are the most like Christ, and me thinking that is when He wants us to give ourselves up and let Him do the loving. It is still hard though. What do we want, results? or really for others to know the best thing on earth? Please continue to pray for us and students at FMU to come to Christ, we need it and appreciate the prayers :o)

We went to Charleston last Monday stayed at this awesome old house, went to our fav place to eat The Mustard Seed, and saw a romantic comedy! Now doesn't Dan know how to treat a lady :o) I can't believe its been a year... We watched our wedding video and it seemed so long ago remembering that day, but then I'm like a whole YEAR has passed, whoa, what have we done... And I know this post is 11 days late, but what can you do when so much is going on at old FMU? Daniel has been doing well, but the past couple of weeks have been "extreme" for me, like really so blessed and priviledged and excited about being here and what we do, to being sad, needy, and a little lonely. Guess its just that Fall thoughtful time, and my husband helped me to see that if life is just about what you're doing it will ALWAYS get old. Thanks for the wisdom Danny! Dan the man has been the only one writing for awhile, so as cool and thoughtful as he is, I didn't want him to take on our blog single-handedly :o) Still, we are having a lot of fun meeting people at FMU. It is just such a priviliage to be able to love and pursue people because God turns our hearts that way. Like, if we left FMU becasue we didn't think we were getting responces like WE thought we should, there would be NO ONE, and this is not an exageration, sharing the Truth there! Isn't that crazy? ALSO, we both have been feeling sick lately, with sinus/allergy stuff and jsut feel very yucky, so that has not been fun. it has been fun to still want to go do stuff with studetns feeling this way, now THERE is a supernatural thing for you. It is 12:52 at night, and I just came home from campus. I saw God more clearly tonight than I have in a while. I cannot say all the reasons, it would take too long. But Matt. 9:35-36 came into my mind while I was there at this party. They are harrassed and helpless. They need Jesus, and I am there to point them to Him. It is not easy, and a lot of times I wonder what I am doing, but tonight, because of God's gift of His word to me, I got to remember. If we don't stand up and point the way, then we don't care if they go to hell. I didn't want to leave because I loved those guys and I had so much fun hanging out with them. If anyone reads this, please pray for the lost and dying souls of those at FMU.

OK, Wendy normally does this, but here goes for me. Students come in a few days. I'm excited, I can't wait for a new year to start, to meet new people, to love them, and to share the best news ever. However, I'm also scared in a sense. I think it is sin, it is, I mean, it is fear. I've seen all too often now that I love to get meaning out of what I do. If I am successful at my job, then I am successful at life. But with that view point, I am putting the importance on myself, and thus seeking my own glory and own gain. So the question keeps buzzing in my mind, "what if there is no fruit this year? What does that mean for me and Wendy?" God has met me the past week in repentance and in His word. Relationships, loving people, faith, hope in Him, God values these things much more than He values how much I accomplish in my job. I'm not even in control of that, so why do I long to be so much? (I would love to be revered, that's why). May God forgive me, and He does.
If you read this, please pray for me. And please pray for the lost at FMU, that I may live in such a way to tell them of the greatest of Jesus, and that my mouth would speak of it when God moves me to.

Has anyone read the auto biography of George Muller? What a man of faith. He trusted God for everything, in order that Jesus alone might receive the glory. We have been reading it lately, it is an easy read, but incredible as you see him tell his story. It is actually just selected journal entries from over the years.

Well, we just got back to Flo-town last night, and it felt really good. In my mind I don't think I can fathom being here for a long period of time, it's really weird...kinda like, where are we headed to next? We want to go visit the Towe's sometime in Atlanta before staff training, so we will be on the road again, but I don't mind...in fact I think we are ver used to it. ALSO, I'm very much hoping to get down to the beach sometime :o) Please continue to pray for our support, and thank you for all of you that DO support us!!! We really learned what an AMAZING blessing living on support can be this summer by hanging out with our supporters. We love yall! I can't believe it's AUGUST!!!! Cookout with supporters and my thoughts from it

We had a cookout last night with some of our supporters in Winston-Salem. I haven't been encouraged like that in a long time. It refreshed my heart to know that men and women of God are on our team and really want to be a part of what He is doing in us and at FMU. If you get a chance to support someone, do it, it blesses your life and the life of someone else. It made God bigger than I had known in the past, more real in His true self. I have been thinking often lately that in the college Christian community, God is small, even if we say He is big. I'm not sure we even know what a big God is. We can't wrap our minds around God's power or presence, or simplicity. I say simplicity because in JI Packers Knowing God, he talks about God cannot do anything unholy. There is no delimna to God like we have. Packer says we view God as too much like us. We have these very complex lives and come to forks in the road where we don't know where to go, and we are confused, and we wonder what the heck does God want me to do, and what is right in this situation. God does not have these situations. His character is more simple, He does the Holy thing. How do we follow this? I'm not sure. But I know that if I strive to know God, and go to His word, it will go a long way into allowing me to make the Holy decision when I'm in a hard situation. What does this have to do with my supporters? They want to know God, they want to see Jesus glorified, same as me, and same as God, and that just shows how simple God is in what He wants for us.
On a parting note, I want to say thank you to mine and Wendy's supporters. We appreciate you, and pray 2Cr 9:10 for you which says: Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness
May your harvest of righteousness be great, God bless you, and blessed by the name of the Lord.

Wellll, we left our camera cord to post pictures in our lovely Orlando hotel room, so we'll not be posting any pics soon. And those are what everyone gets on to see, right? Dan the man and I are doing well, back in Flo-town, OUR HOME, for the first time in 51 days. This is one of the mini-tough things in our otherwise awesome job. well,in two days we are headed to Mobile, AL to visit Daniel's mom. I'm very excited to go because I haven't been yet. From there we are headed to B-ham to see some supporters and family. Then to Atlanta to see friends and supporters... Then off to Winston area (Lake norman) to be a part of Abby and Daniel (high school buds) wedding. Jimmy, we want to see you sometime while we are in that area :o) At the end of July Dan's mom is generously taking us to LA to meet her family and see the area!!!! We are soooo very excited. We can't wait to come and see all of yall, hopefully making it to Charleston and Florence in there at some point. We love yall, sorry for lack of updates. Orlando has been busy and crazy...it has been fun getting to know the other staff, but hard to get time with students because Disney has them working a lot. More updates soon :o)

We have been in Orlando a little over a week, but very busy! It is BIG CITY down here, sooooooooo many people. Then you add in the tourists! You can go to Wal-Mart and here like three different languages... The first year students are coming down TODAY, so please pray for them and their summer, that this would change their lives forever. Looks like the students get quite a few free passes, so if anyone wants to come down and has a place to stay or can find a cheap place we MIGHT be able to get you some tickets... Call me if you are really interested, we would love for anyone to visit :o) This week has been really refreshing for us spiritually and even regarding ministry, so thanks for your prayers! Well, since school ended we've found a little bit of a LACK of stuff to do during the day in old Flo-town, so we decided we needed an adventure. Last Monday and Tuesday we went and hiked down the gorge, camped, and came back up. It was a lot of fun, but harder than we both thought. We decided the weather was looking a little suspect and decided to leave...we're glad we did because it HAILED as we were driving down the mountain. The end of the week we went to Harbor Island near Beaufort, SC and spent some great time at the beach with the Miller family. It was really a nice place place (no cheesy hotels at this beach) and very relaxing. Hopefully we can get some beach pictures up later! Peace out friends

Well, we had a fun time in court today, the judge was really nice. Daniel had three charges, and they dismissed the two smaller charges. This is good because...we get $400 back. The one charge remains. This is bad because...Wendy will now be driving Daniel around for thirty days because his DL was revoked again. We both thought though, at least we get to hang out a lot now :o) Thanks for praying for this, it was just a nagging situation, that hopefully we will learn from...for LIFE!

If Daniel is convicted to the full extreme our car insurance will increase times five, so we're hoping the judge will just, you know, give us a free gift we don't deserve. Well, Sunday we headed up to D.C. took a tour of the Capitol, went through the White House, saw the Rose Garden, outside of the West Wing/Oval Office, and got 10 feet away from President Bush as his helicopter landed on the Front Lawn... DANIEL GOT ARRESTED TODAY...no lie... my husband was taken to the Effingham correctional facility today, and was in jail for 3 hours. A lesson for today kids, ALWAYS PAY YOUR SPEEDING TICKETS...and then when your licence gets revoked go renew it...oh yeah, and pay your tags. Well, it cost us a pretty penny, but all our firends and I were looking for him for two hours thinking he was dead, literally, so thank goodness we're getting a tax return is all I have to say.

Wow, it seems like we have been busy...We jusat got back from the Becca and Jacob dearolph wedding and it was AWESOME!!! So fun, great food, and the guy that preached did such a good job...and we even made it home to catch the last half of the Carolina game, so what more could we ask for. So, this week went by really fast! Last weekend with the parents was so much fun...the beach, great food, free food, NCAA Basketball, and Easter. What more could you ask for? We are headed to Columbia today to be a part of our friends Becca and Jacob getting married. I;m sure its going to be a lot of fun, and it better be because we're giong to miss most of the two Final Four games. So...Jane and John Miller have travled down to Flo-town this weekend to spend some Easter time with us. Yesterday we ventured to Myrtle Beach, only an hour drive, and were met with coldness and clouds. We were entertained by the Spring Breakers and their antics, and wrapped up the day with some outlet shopping, always a good thing. Tonight we are attending a PAR-TAY at the Bumgardners house, haning out with some College of Charleston friends. Should be some great times.

We've been staying up til 1am watching b-ball, thank GOODNESS the Heels pulled it off last night. We are all still hoping for an Illinois/UNC final! We'll see today. Peace out!

I was in Atlanta this weekend hanging out with some fabulous old buds. Can I just say Anne Bumgardner is a great friend, who I miss, and I great catch for any single guy readers. I have a photo in store (if I can find it) to remind everyone what a hottie she really is. Daniel is going to learn how to do this soon so you don't always just have to hear from me...as far as B-ball goes, my team has still lost one, and March madness is crazy. I never should have listened to that "expert" who said upsets weren't going to happen before doing my bracket. Anyway, more frequent updates soon!

Ah, what a difference time with your journal can make... Thanks for hanging with us even after reading my "ill" blog :o) My idea that life is easy and simple gets shot again and again, good thing because that is reality. I just wanted to give a shout out to my FABULOUS hubby, who loves me well (there are flowers in the kitchen) who has been playing poker on campus for hours. Yeah, its considered part of his job. So...today we went to Charleston, a lot is happening in the Campus Outreach family, and we're excited. I (Wen) feels a little overwhelmed about it, because I like control and that is when it is time to give it up. I had a great, very "happy" day you could say, when we hustle back to Florence to find out my b-ball game has ben forfitted (those sorority girls need to show up) and my one friend that was going to Florida said she probably won't go now. Cool. That ticks me off because although it is exciting to trust the Lord, not myself, it is just plain hard. And it strips control. Anyway, Dan's going to eat with his new friend, I'm glad he loves it here. Anyway, I'm going to take my bad attitude tail and go run and talk to God about my distress. Peace out.

Well, tonight there was some excitement up at the FMU... There was some mad b-ball action, but the real game is on tomorrow night as Wen (team name-TROUBLE) takes on the ZTA sorority. The coaches asked if she had been practicing, she hadn't, but could credit her improvement to watching 10 hours of ACC b-ball this weekend. Headed to Charleston tomorrow for one day. Catch ya later
